Duane Watson
Singer-songwriter Duane Watson: “the long-haired, redneck son of a war vet.”
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Duane was raised on cattle ranches across Northern BC and Alberta, where his roots and early experiences shaped his life and music.
Duane’s musical journey began at age 7 with his first guitar, a “Simpson Sears special” Christmas gift.
By 12 or 13, he was writing his own songs and performing covers at school events, coffee houses, and open mics. By 17, he became a full-time musician, touring Western Canada solo and with The Duane Watson Band, a career that spanned over 22 years.
After a 20-year hiatus from the music scene, Duane returned, reigniting his passion for writing and recording with the support of his close friend CJ Devine.
Now a staunch indie artist, Duane released his debut album, Dead Man’s Whiskey, in 2022 and has more albums in the works. In 2023, his dedication was recognized as he became a BCCMA Roots & Blues Finalist.
At 66 and based in Chilliwack BC, Duane is touring and writing: with a renewed vision for his music that is stronger than ever.
